State of the Station

We have a meeting this afternoon with a committee of students to determine whether our organization is consistent with the mission of the University--we think it is--and if we have a clear vision for the future of this station--we do. It's the last step in our application process to become an organization, and, if we're successful, we should find out after Easter. These are exciting times for KCUJ Radio.

Of course, becoming an organization entails that we'll be moving to a website on the Creighton server. Once that transition is complete, this website (kcuj.blogspot.com) will redirect to our new home on the internet.

Our current predicament is that we are wanting for money and equipment with which to get this station off the ground. If you can help us, either directly, or by means of contacts, we would be very grateful! Maybe you'll get a closet or a sandwich named after you.

Submitting Music to KCUJ

KCUJ receives piles of records and CDs every day from recording labels. Our music staff tries to review each release and adds the good stuff into the studio for airplay.

If you would like to submit a record or CD for airplay on KCUJ, send it to:

** mailing address to be posted later **

(for now, just e-mail us and we'll let you know what to do)

KCUJ accepts only cd submissions. Please don't send us promotional videos, audio cassettes or other media. Please do not just send us mp3s or links to your website. Also, because we're a free-form station, we prefer submissions of full length albums or EPs, not just singles. If something is targeted for commercial radio, we probably aren't going to play it anyway.

Due to the amount of submissions that we receive, and because the KCUJ staff is composed of full time students, we can't reply by phone or email to confirm that we received your cd or that it has been added. Do not send emails regarding submissions to any station staff members besides the music directors.

Keep in mind that while we focus on playing music not regularly heard on the radio, we cannot and do not aim to play all music genres not played on commercial radio. The music that we add and play is largely determined by the makeup of the staff at any time. When you send us music, keep in mind, we are full-time college students.
